Summer Repeat - We did a series of great Interviews with Sarah Bennett, Home School Consultant for Heritage Christian Online School. This is part 3 of 5. This podcast first aired March 9th, 2009.

Hello fellow educators, welcome to the summer repeat podcast number 73. Today we will continue with part 3 of our interview with Sarah Bennett, Home Educational Consultant for Heritage Christian Online School. Please don’t forget that we are still sending out free copies of my book, Discipling this Generation for a Digital World to any one that sends us an email. Details to follow at the end of the podcast.

Today Sarah will continue to speak to the challenges and blessings of home education. When we started Heritage Christian Online School we determined that God had called us to serve the home education community. We didn’t start HCOS to somehow find students for our campus school or make us money. We have always felt that Home schooling is a great options for Christian Education and we felt we could become and influence for discipleship in a place where home schooling can work well within Distributed Learning. Nora, one of our moms with HCOS, sent us a comment from last week’s podcast that seems to indicate we are reaching our goals:

“I appreciate the work that goes into them and that they are FREE.  I like the professional aspect of being a home-school mom with having my child receiving report cards.  I work well with deadlines and feedback so this is a great fit for us.  I have been happy with the school since we first heard of it when our eldest was 4.  Now she is in grade 3 and we also have a K student with Heritage.  We have an exceptional local teacher and I have so many good things to tell others about our experience.  I love hearing from SARAH BENNETT.  Home-schooling gives us the freedom to work at our own beat.  Because my husband is a builder, we have moved 4 times since my oldest started Kindergarten and home-schooling has provided the stability we need as a family.  …..  I think that I have the best job in the world.  I started out only knowing 2 home-schooling families.  Now almost all my friends have converted to this method of teaching.  I have been able to help them get started because I started researching home-schooling when I was pregnant.  Even though I am younger than most moms, God has used me to encourage others.  I love to LEARN: reading and writing are still my favourite activities when I find a quite moment.”

Here is this week’s interview with Sarah.
