This week Greg continues his interview with John Davies on the subject of Special Needs Education. He also has a surprise interview with one of our HCS Special Ed students.
Hello fellow educators. Welcome to podcast number 60. Today we will continue our discussion about Special Education with our Director of Special Education in Heritage Christian Online School, John Davies. But before we do that I have a very special friend and student who will join us in this podcast, Matthew Baker. Matthew’s challenge is cerebral palsy. He has been with our campus school for six years now is beloved of the staff, students and families at Heritage. Matthew is also a faithful listener of this podcast and regularly sends me comments and emails, something I would love to receive from more of our listeners. Here is my conversation with Matthew: Audio Only Matthew’s contribution is very relevant because today we will be talking about the ideas of “integration” and “inclusion.” Matthew is an integrated student in our campus school. Whereas most of our 100 special education students don’t “integrate” within the traditional school context, the exception being our 12 campus school students. John Davis has some very valuable insight into this today. Here is part two of my interview with John: Audio Only Thank you so much John. I think his leadership in this very specialized form of education is one of the main reasons for our success with Special Ed in the Online School. Please email us your comments and thoughts on today’s podcast.
