In this podcast we finish the rebuttal from the Search Engine Podcast that addresses Cellphones in the Classroom, specifically the issue of Facebook and Social Networking between teachers and students. We finish the podcast with a great interview with HCS classroom teacher, Joanne Robideau.
Hello fellow educators welcome to podcast number 125! Last week we played the first part of a rebuttal to a podcast aired on “Search Engine” with journalist Jesse Brown. The original podcast was rebroadcasted on the Christian Educator in episode 121. If you haven’t already listened to that podcast I would recommend that you take time to do so as this episode is in response to comments made last month. Today you will the second part of this rebuttal on the issue of Teachers and Social Networking with their students. As you will hear this is a very important discussion in the day of semi-private social spaces like Facebook. Interestingly, Canada has the most Facebook users per-capita than any other country with over 45% of our population friending each other. After the Jesse Brown and Anthony Marco interview we have a wonderful conversation with Joanne Robideau, a regular contributor to the podcast, on her position regarding Facebook and her students. So here is the second part of the rebuttal and interview: Audio Only Hmmm, lots to think about. But keep in mind that Anthony Marco is a public school teacher and union representative. Their mandate in working with kids is different from our Christian teachers at our campus school. Our goal is to create relationships that facilitate discipleship-based Christian education. I think you will hear a different approach and attitude from our own Joanne Robideau who I had a chance to interview this week on this very subject. Here is the delightful conversation I had with Joanne: Audio Only Thank you so much Joanne. I apologize for the length of today’s podcast but I wanted you to hear it all. What you need to do now is sit down and fire us off an email which I will take time next week to read. Don’t be silent. Please send in any suggestion or comments about these podcasts. We still have about 500 copies of Discipling this Generation for a Digital World, both in paperback as well as audio mp3. If you will email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it we would love to send you a free copy. Please include your mailing address. Thank you for listening and thank you for your commitment to discipleship-based Christian education. |
